Rev. Chris Townsend, Minister of Students

Chris Townsend was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.  His faithful family are members of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church in Decatur.   Through various mission experiences and guidance of his parents, Chris was called into the Gospel Ministry full time.  Chris  graduated Briarcliff High School and received his Bachelor of Arts from Mercer University in Atlanta.  In 1995 he received his Master of Divinity with an emphasis in family ministry from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  His primary focus is to see young people grow in a love for Christ and to take that love and share it with all those around them.  His dream for the student ministry at First Baptist Church of Washington, Georgia, is to be a beacon of light calling out into the darkness and despair in today's world.

Chris is married to Tara Grimes Townsend, formerly of Memphis, Indiana.  They have two sons Garston and Henry and a spoiled  Bassett Hound named "Miss Scarlett".  Chris spends his free time searching flea markets and restoring Model "A" Fords
